Battery 2nd, Domestic Battery 3rd, and Terroristic Threatening 1st.

On March 18, 2017 at approximately 0132 hours, Deputy Landon Loe was dispatched to 595 Hempstead 11 in reference to a domestic disturbance in progress. Deputy Loe was advised by dispatch that the suspect, Marcus Ballard, had been threatening family members with a knife.

Upon arrival, Deputy Loe made contact with Marcus who was standing shirtless next to a vehicle. Deputy Loe noticed what appeared to be several injuries to Marcus' face which looked to be the result of a physical altercation. Marcus also appeared to be very intoxicated and was slurring his words. Marcus also had trouble standing up.

Deputy Loe was then approached by the caller, Andrea Ballard, who also is Marcus' sister and she stated that Marcus had been drinking since earlier that day and was becoming increasingly violent. Andrea stated that she and her fiancée, were trying to calm Marcus down, but that nothing was working. Andrea stated that the altercation all started when Marcus grabbed her by the throat and started pulling her hair. Andrea stated that she tried to get him off of her, but that she was unable to. Andrea stated that at that time, her fiancée came over to get Marcus off of her. Andrea stated that when he did, Marcus began fighting him. Andrea stated that he was forced to defend himself against Marcus. Andrea stated that shortly after the initial encounter between John and Marcus, Marcus retrieved a pocket knife and began threatening everybody at the residence saying that he was going to stab them.

Andrea stated that Marcus then came back at her fiancée and cut him with the knife on his left bicep.

Deputy Loe made contact with Andrea’s Fiancée 26 year old John Witcher who appeared to have a bloody nose, and a small laceration on his left bicep. John stated that the injuries he sustained were from Marcus and that Marcus had cut him with the knife. John stated that Marcus then went after Andrea with the knife, but that she was able to disarm him and throw the knife into the grass somewhere. Deputy Sorensen and I both searched the premises, but were unable to locate any weapon that may have been used in the incident.

Pafford then arrived on scene in order to evaluate both John and Marcus. Both refused medical treatment

Deputy Loe placed Marcus Ballard under arrest for Battery 2nd, Domestic Battery 3rd, and Terroristic Threatening 1st. Deputy Sorensen transported Marcus to the Hempstead County Detention Facility where he was booked in on the aforementioned charges.

While enroute to the Hempstead County Detention Center Marcus began kicking the back of the divider in my patrol vehicle Marcus then told Deputy Sorensen that he was going to tell the jail that they   caused the injuries to his face. He also stated that we had "f****d with the wrong guy" and to "wait until he told the Aryan Nation" that we had arrested him. He then asked what county he was in and how many deputies were employed by the Sheriff’s Office. And said that "all your houses are going to explode at the same time" He also stated that he wasn't going into the jail and that he would have to be tasered or shot before he went into the jail. Upon my arrival at the Hempstead County Detention Center Deputy Sorensen had Jailer Mills and Aaron come to the sally port in case there was any altercation. Detention Officer Mills removed Marcus from my patrol vehicle and escorted him into book-in without any further incident.   Ballard age 30 of Conway, is awaiting a first court appearance on the above charges.
