On April 19, 2016 at approximately 1:00 p.m., Deputy Jeremy McBride received a report of vandalism to a grave site located at the Yellow Creek Cemetery located on County Road 35 near Saratoga.

Upon arrival at the cemetery Deputy McBride located a grave site belonging to First Sergeant T. B Blassingame, Company G, 10th, Arkansas infantry of the Confederate States of America that had been partially dug up.

The hole appeared to have been dug to a depth of approximately two feet with the dirt from the grave being piled neatly on the South side of the grave, as if the person or persons were looking for something in the grave for example any artifacts, buttons, or other things connected to the civil war. The incident remains under investigation.

Anyone having any information please contact the Hempstead County Sheriff’s Office at 870-777-6727
