Chemical Emergency



On April 23, 2016 at approximately 3:39 a.m. Deputies and EMS Personnel were dispatched to Tyson's Food at 278 Hempstead 278 in reference to an medical emergency.


Dispatch advised that there was an Anhydrous Ammonia leak. Dispatch advised that the Hempstead County Emergency Response Team had been dispatched, along with Pafford Emergency Medical Services, and Arkansas Department of Emergency Management.


Upon arrival, Deputy McBride made contact with emergency personnel and was told that Tyson had contained the leak and that 7 people had been taken to the hospital by ground ambulance and one was transported via helicopter. Their conditions are unknown at this time
