Domestic Disturbance

On March 18, 2017 at approximately 2340 hours Deputy Loe was dispatched to 229 Highway 299 in Emmet in reference to a domestic disturbance.

Upon arrival he made contact with the caller, who stated that Martha Elmer and Thomas Carter had been fighting and that he was tired of it, and decided to contact the Sheriff's Department. Kevin stated that he had been staying at the residence and was tired of the constant fighting between the two. Kevin stated that Thomas had left the residence on foot heading in an unknown direction and that Martha was still inside her residence.

Deputy Loe made contact with Martha who stated that Thomas had not been staying with her and had been texting her constantly even though she wouldn't reply. Martha stated that Thomas had come to her front door and asked for her to let him in. Martha stated that she told him to "go away," and when she did, he stated "you don't tell me to go away." Martha stated that Thomas then punched out the window on her front door and began to kick the door violently.

Deputy Sorensen observed broken glass on the ground and inside the residence and observed the door to have been dented in from what looked like a foot. He also noticed several drops of blood to be on the porch and smeared blood on the window blinds, and on the outside wall of the residence. Deputy Sorensen asked Martha if the blood belonged to Thomas and she stated that Thomas had told her he was cut and bleeding. Martha stated that Thomas was unable to get into her residence and that she was uninjured in the altercation. Martha stated that Thomas left on foot and she was unsure of his direction.

Deputy Sorensen assisted by Nevada County Deputies conducted a search for Thomas but were unable to locate Thomas. Incident remains under investigation by HCSO[S1] .
