Possession of Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphilia

 

On Saturday, April 7, 2018 Deputy Brown observed a white 1999 Chevrolet commit the traffic violation of expire vehicle tags, in the 1100 block of Edgewood Street, in Hope, Hempstead County, Arkansas.

 

Deputy Brown activated his emergency equipment and conducted a traffic stop on the above vehicle. Brown identified the driver of the vehicle as James Clift. Deputy Brown knew Clift was on parole and it was confirmed that he had valid warrantless search waiver on file. Deputy Brown conducted a search on James and located a hypodermic syringe commonly used for injecting narcotics in the body in his jacket pocket. James was placed under arrest. James then admitted that he had some marijuana in his pants.

 

James was transported to the HCDF where he was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of controlled substance (marijuana) and expired vehicle tags. Clift is being held for 1st court appearance.
