D.W.I. 5th Offense

 

On 04/08/18 at approximately 2056 hours, Deputy Orlando Dennis was traveling westbound on Hwy 278 West when a grey Chevy Impala that was at the stop sign of Hempstead 44, pulled out onto Hwy 278 West crossing the center line into my lane of traffic nearly hitting him head on, him to drive into the ditch.

 

Deputy Dennis turned around and stopped the vehicle just pass Hempstead 44. As Deputy Dennis approached the passenger side of the vehicle, and made contact with Driver Donald Nelson, front passenger Darwin Walker, and back seat passenger Rangy Taylor. Deputy Dennis could smell a strong odor of intoxicant that he associated with an alcoholic beverage coming from the vehicle.

 

Deputy Dennis arrested Nelson for 5th offense DWI a (felony), Driving left of center, driving on suspended license for DWI, no proof of insurance, Refusal to submit to BAC, and Drinking on the Highway, he was transported to HCDF and held for 1st appearance.

 

Deputy Malone was outside of the vehicle with Darwin Walker and Rangy Taylor, Deputy Dennis made contact with them and observed that they also had been drinking. Deputy Dennis smelled a strong odor of intoxicant that associate with an alcoholic beverage coming from both subjects as they spoke.

 

Darwin Walker and Rangy Taylor were Cited for Drinking on the Highway and Rangy for Drinking on the Highway and given a court date.
