On January 16, 2019 at approximately 1032 hours HCSO Deputies was contacted by dispatch and advised to go to 5479 Highway 371, Dollar General, in reference to a theft.

Upon arrival they made contact with the regional loss prevention manager for Dollar General, Kevin Dabbs. Kevin told deputies that an employee by the name of Mark Jones has been stealing from the store. Kevin stated that Mark admitted to him that he took 800 dollars to pay for his son's grave marker. Kevin also advised Mark said that he took 200 dollars from the safe.

Mark Jones was placed under arrest for Breaking or Entering and Theft of Property. Jones was transported to the Hempstead County Detention Center and booked in for the above charges. Jones is awaiting a first appearance.
