NOTICE OF COURT CANCELLATION

 

Based on guidance from the Center for Disease Control concerning limiting group gatherings to avoid· the spread of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), the Hempstead County District Court is canceling Court beginning with Court currently set for Monday, March 23, 2020. Court will resume normal operations on May 11, 2020 unless circumstances dictate extending this cancellation period. For the Court dates being canceled, these Court dates will be moved to the following dates set out below:

If situations arise where people originally scheduled to appear in Cou1i on one of the above dates needs to appear before the Court in order to resolve a pending situation, please contact the Hempstead County District Clerk's office at (870)777-7800, ext 190, and the Court will work to schedule a hearing for these cases.

 

 

Anyone who was planning to appear in Court on one of the above dates and enter a plea of guilty on charges filed against them may contact the Court Clerk's office about the possibility of signing Plea Agreements and Payment Plans on how any fines would be paid. However, some cases will not be able to be handled in th.is manner without a mandatory Court appearance. People wishing to inquire about whether they can get their charges resolved in this manner may call the Court Clerk's office at the above telephone number.

 

The Court apologizes for any it1convenience these cancellations may cause anyone, and this Court will work to resolve situations where the person would be inconvenienced by these delays as set out above, but witil the situation involving the spread of COVID-19 has been resolved, these measures are necessary to lessen the chance that people scheduled to appear before the Court would be exposed to this viru.s.
