One Arrested for Theft By Receiving

On December 21, 2020 at approximately 0517 Deputy Jacob Wayne was dispatched to 4426 Hempstead 2 West in reference suspicious person.

Upon arrival Deputy Wayne spoke with the caller who stated that a white male wearing a black jacket with a black facemask and blue jean or khaki pants. Came to his residence and knocked on his door and stated that "I just stole a truck from Texarkana and I just wrecked it up the road and I need a ride home". Richard stated that he called the Police. Richard stated that individual was trying to take his jeep when he walked back into his house.

Deputy Wayne went back to the vehicle on the side of the road, and discovered a Black GMC pickup truck on the right-hand side of the road in the ditch with the dash removed. The vehicle belongs to Kevin B Taylor, the vehicle is a Black 2008 GMC Pickup truck with a Texas License plate number. Deputy Rodriguez ran a check on the vehicle and notified the owner of the recovery. The owner stated that he discovered his vehicle had been taken for an address in Texarkana, Texas.

Deputies found the suspect latter identified as Colton Adams Deputy Wayne placed him in handcuffs and placed him in the back of my patrol unit. Deputy Wayne asked Colton if he wanted to be checked out by paramedics he stated "no" Deputy Wayne transported him to the Hempstead County detention facility. Adams was charge with theft by receiving by HCSO and charges are pending in Texas.

Deputy Wayne discovered Adams removed property out of the truck and hid it by some hay bales on the left -hand side of the road. The property was recovered in placed back inside of the vehicle.

The Recovered vehicle was taken to the Hempstead County Sheriff's Office and impounded.
