Deputies Respond and Investigate Three Overnight Vehicle Break-Ins

 

At approximately 9:22 PM on Wednesday January 6, 2021, Deputy Derrick Bunn was dispatched to the 2500 block of Hempstead 117 in reference to someone actively breaking into the a vehicle.

Upon arrival in the area, Deputy Bunn was advised that someone called and observed 4 male subjects running by a gray or silver Chrysler 300 the subjects got into it while the driver was driving slowly in the area of West Plainview. Deputy Bunn checked the area and did not see anyone matching that description.  

Deputy Bunn made contact with the caller who stated that two males ran up the drive way and went through their vehicles. Caller stated the center consoles were open and glove boxes were opened in all vehicles but did not notice anything missing.

At approximately 10:05 PM hours, Deputy Donald Morris was dispatched to the 4600 block of Hempstead 3 (Patmos Road) in regards to Breaking or Entering in a vehicle. At the time of the call Deputy Morris was assisting Deputy Bunn and Investigator McBride in attempting to locate a silver Chrysler 300 containing possibly five individuals that had just been involved in a Breaking or Entering on Hempstead 117.

While en route to the 4600 block of Hempstead 3, Investigator McBride was traveling south in front of Deputy Morris on Hempstead 3 advised over the radio that he just observed the suspect vehicle traveling north on Hempstead 3 in Deputy Morris's direction. Deputy Morris met the vehicle and turned around in attempt to get behind the vehicle. Morris activated his emergency lights in attempt to stop the vehicle, the suspect vehicle sped up and failed to stop for his emergency lights and siren.

Due to the rain and wet roads Deputy Morris was unable to catch up with the vehicle. Deputy Morris was advised by a passing motorist that a silver Chrysler 300 was traveling at a high rate of speed on Highway 278 East heading towards Rosston. Investigator McBride and Deputy Morris traveled to the Hempstead-Nevada County line on Highway 278 East with no luck locating the suspect vehicle.

Deputy Morris met with the caller in the 4600 block of Hempstead 3 who advised he was sitting inside his living room when he heard two vehicle doors shut. Caller advised he went outside and observed his front passenger door open and called the Sheriff's Office.

Caller advised the only he could remember that was inside the truck that was missing was his vehicle registration. Deputy Morris observed the glove box to be open. Outside the truck he observed a black phone charger and some paperwork that belonged to the caller.

After leaving the callers residence Deputy Morris traveled North on Hempstead 3 near the intersection of Hempstead 132 and observed some paperwork laying in the roadway on the Northbound lane. Deputy Morris observed vehicle registrations, insurance cards, sales receipt and a vehicle manual all having the caller's name on them. Deputy Morris collected the items. And returned the items to the caller.

 

 

At approximately 12:14 AM on Thursday January 7, 2021, Deputy Derick Bunn was dispatched to the 4700 block Hempstead 3 in reference to someone breaking into a vehicle.

Upon arrival Deputy Bunn made contact with the caller. Who stated that she went out to her car right before she called 911 and found her car white 2020 Hyundai Palisade was broken into the caller stated that the center console was gone through and a debit card was taken out belonging to her husband, Caller stated that she could not notice anything else missing at the time.

Callers Husband looked into his Blue 2004 Ford F250 and noticed that the glove box was open in his truck.

The caller stated that earlier she heard what she thought was a door slam and when she looked a car that she could not describe was heading North on Hempstead 3 towards Hope.
