08/27/2021

On August 26, 2021 at approximately 2:58 AM, Hempstead County Deputies were dispatched to Farmers Bank and Trust Branch at 5461 Highway 371 East Blevins, Arkansas. Dispatch advised that two subjects were actively attempting to break into the ATM at the bank.

Upon arrival deputies talked to a witness who stated that he saw the shadow of someone hooking up what he thought was a chain to the ATM machine to a truck. Witness stated that the suspects tried to pull it open with a pick-up and chain. Deputies discovered silver 2006 Chevrolet Silverado parked in front of the ATM. Tow hooks connected to a chain that were wedged into the vault door of the ATM that the Subject(s) used in an attempt to remove the vault door. The chain was previously attached to the vehicle, but was evident that when the subject(s) attempted to remove the vault door from ATM the rear bumper to the vehicle was ripped off.

A check of the vehicle revealed that it had been stolen earlier in Hope.

Damages to the ATM were valued at approximately $70,000.00. The subjects were unable to get any currency out of the ATM.
