Sheriff James Singleton Assigns Deputy Danny Engledowl as School Resource Officer for Spring Hill School District

Hempstead County, AR - The Hempstead County Sheriff's Office and Spring Hill School District are proud to announce the assignment of Deputy Danny Engledowl as the district's new School Resource Officer (SRO). The appointment was made by Sheriff James Singleton as part of the department's continued commitment to student safety and community partnership.

Deputy Engledowl will officially begin his duties on August 5, 2025, and will serve as a full-time SRO across all Spring Hill campuses.

"Deputy Engledowl is a dedicated and professional law enforcement officer who truly cares about the youth of our community," said Sheriff James Singleton. "His presence on campus will ensure a safe learning environment while also giving students a trusted mentor and role model."

As SRO, Deputy Engledowl will take on a multifaceted role-serving not only as a law enforcement presence but also as a liaison between the school district and the Sheriff's Office, a resource for staff and students, and an educator on safety and legal topics."

In his new role, Deputy Engledowl will:

  • Help maintain a safe and secure school environment,
  • Provide informal counseling and mentorship to students,
  • Collaborate with faculty and administrators on emergency preparedness,
  • Deliver classroom presentations on topics such as internet safety, drug prevention, and responsible citizenship.

This assignment reflects a joint effort between the Hempstead County Sheriff's Office and the Spring Hill School District to prioritize student safety, strengthen community ties, and foster mutual respect between youth and law enforcement.
